Based in Liverpool NSW, the Hand Centre offers a combination of specialised services that makes the centre a complete solution for people with hand problems. Whether you have a traumatic, sports or work injury, or suffer from arthritis, occupational overuse or another chronic hand condition, our goal at the Hand Centre is to restore the use of your hand to the greatest degree possible.

At the Hand Centre, you’ll find professionals committed to ensuring that you completely understand your injury or condition and are able to choose the treatment option that will provide the best outcome for you. Treatments range from the latest surgical interventions using up-to-the minute techniques, through medication and injections, to hand therapy treatments, including splinting, therapeutic exercises and scar management.

Dr Chris Scott and Cathy Merry form the core of the Hand Centre, working together and with other specialists to ensure that each patient receives the most appropriate treatment in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Dr Scott is a dedicated hand surgeon with extensive training and experience in training a wide variety of hand injuries and conditions. He specialises in soft tissue trauma, microsurgery and complex reconstructive surgery.

"Most people don't realise that their hand problems can be fixed, often quite easily. For example, while surgery is an obvious treatment for traumatic injuries, it can also be used effectively to correct commonly occuring conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis and arthritis. However, surgery is not always the best option, and depending on the nature of the injury or condition, and the circumstances and personal preferences of the patient, a non-surgical approach may yield better results." Dr Chris Scott

Cathy Merry is the Director of Hand Injury Trauma Service Physiotherapy, one of Sydney's leading providers of specialist hand therapy. Cathy has more than 20 years' experience with hand injuries and leads a team of qualified hand therapists offering a range of pre-surgical, post-surgical and non-surgical therapies designed to reduce pain and help patients to regain movement, flexibiliity and strength.

"Many people are unaware of the ways in which a hand therapist can assist in reducing pain and regaining motion, strength and function following a hand injury or in relation to a chronic problem. There are all sorts of treatments that can help - splinting, exercises and advice regarding the best way to use your hands to avoid strain, among other things. And for patients recovering from surgery, therapy is often crucial to ensure that they get the best possible outcome in the shortest possible time." Cathy Merry
